Your Voices Were Heard
06.24.10
Thanks to the thousands of people who called leaders in the U.S. Senate yesterday to express support for the creation of a national criminal justice commission to examine problems in our system and recommend reforms to address them.
The offices of Senators Harry Reid, Richard Durbin, Mitch McConnell and Jon Kyl were deluged with calls yesterday, and these four leaders from both parties heard our voices loud and clear. Senators Durbin and Reid said they had heard your voices and requested that we stop asking people to call, saying they understand the massive support for the Criminal Justice Commission.
Thanks for keeping the pressure on Congress to address the issue of wrongful conviction. We’ll keep you updated here as the Criminal Justice Commission Act moves forward in the Senate and the House.
