“Conviction,” the true story of Betty Anne Waters’ two-decade fight to free her brother, came out this week on DVD. In the film, Hilary Swank plays Waters, a Rhode Island women who goes to college and law school in her quest to overturn the wrongful murder conviction of her brother, Kenny Waters. Finally, in 2001, DNA tests obtained by Waters and the Innocence Project proved Kenny’s innocence and led to his exoneration.
