Take Action: Call on Congress to Create a National Criminal Justice Commission

10.05.11

Earlier this year, Virginia Senator Jim Webb introduced the National Criminal Justice Commission Act, a bill to create a bipartisan commission that would review and identify effective criminal justice policies and make recommendations for reform.

The Innocence Project strongly supports this commission because it could address the root causes of wrongful convictions, along with dozens of other critical problems in the American criminal justice system. Thanks to your voices, this bill came very close to passage last year — gaining approval from the full House of Representatives and the Senate Judiciary Committee. However, to give it a chance of passing this year, we need your help now.

Thousands of advocates from across the United States are calling on Senate leadership today to prioritize passage of this important bill.
