New “CSI For Real” study outlines plan to improve forensics

A study released this month by the Reason Foundation, a libertarian research and news organization, points to problems with forensic science in the U.S. and lays out a plan to improve science in our courtrooms and eliminate wrongful convictions.
Among the problems identified by the study:
• Lack of experts to testify for defendants
• Close relationships between law enforcement departments and crime labs
• Insufficient training and accreditation practices
