Yesterday, Freddie Peacock became the

250th person exonerated

by DNA evidence in the United States. We posted

on the first 250 exonerations.  This afternoon, Innocence Project Senior Case Coordinator Maggie Taylor wrote here about her experience with Peacock’s family at the exoneration hearing in Rochester.

Innocence Project supporters around the world are marking the 250th exoneration by sending letters to newspaper editors in their communities, calling for reforms to prevent future injustice.
