How to Start Your Own Innocence Project Fundraiser

People ask me, “I’ve donated what I can to the Innocence Project, but how can I do more?” We now have an exciting answer to that question: Our fundraising tool now allows our supporters to create their very own fundraising pages!

Here is a step-by-step guide to creating your own fundraiser — and some tips to help you get the best results.

Step 1: Go to the Innocence Project’s 28th anniversary fundraising page, and click “Start a Fundraiser”.

Step 2: Create your fundraising account. Enter your information and choose a secure password.

Step 3: Customize your page. The more you personalize your fundraising page, the more successful it will be! Add a profile picture and set an attainable goal. Name your page, e.g. “Charissa’s Fundraising Page”, and then write a few sentences about why you’re fundraising for the Innocence Project as your “Appeal Story”.

If you need some inspiration, you can use this as a starting point:

“I’m helping the Innocence Project raise the money they need to free the wrongfully convicted, and to prevent innocent people from being imprisoned. You can join me by chipping in what you can. Thank you!”

Step 4: Now you’re live! Share your fundraising page with your friends and family on social media, over email, and by text. You’ll be able to see who has donated, and if you’re among the top fundraisers, you’ll be featured on the main 28th anniversary fundraising page!
