The Texas Forensic Science Commission

meets September 17

to discuss findings on the arson conviction of Cameron Todd Willingham, who was executed in 2004 despite his claim of innocence. The Texas Fire Marshall who initially found that the fire was arson

defended his findings this week in a letter to the TFSC

.

A San Francisco man convicted of three murders is

requesting a new trial

on the grounds that evidence from his case may have been tampered with after the state’s crime lab was shut down based on evidence of faulty testing.

The newly created Florida Innocence Commission

met for the first time today

to review eyewitness misidentification, prosecutorial misconduct, false confessions and forensic oversight.  The panel will present a report on its recommendations in January 2012.




A Florida man is

seeking to have experts testify

at his murder trial on the unreliability of eyewitness identification.
