Center for the Global Study of Wrongful Conviction Launches International Innocence Blog

The newly-forming Center for the Global Study of Wrongful Conviction at the University of Cincinnati College of Law has launched a new blog, focused on wrongful conviction and actual innocence issues in an international context. We’ll be featuring a weekly roundup of international posts from the new site – look for them on Wednesdays in the future – and encourage you to watch the blog for their U.S. innocence news as well.

 

Highlights from the past week include:

 

The Singapore Attorney General’s Chamber acknowledged that a DNA-testing procedural error, which went undetected for ten months, led to

unreliable DNA test results

in 412 criminal cases.

 

The Director of the Innocence Project Nigeria asks whether the

introduction of trial by jury

would lead to greater justice there.

 

One man is

exonerated by DNA testing in Japan

, and another may soon be as well.

 


Give Up Tomorrow

, a new documentary film about a Philippines wrongful conviction case, is touring the film festival circuit.

 

The first Innocence Project has been

founded in Taiwan

.
