Call for a Moratorium on Executions in Georgia

Please join us in writing to the Georgia legislature

to call for a moratorium on executions until the causes of wrongful convictions can be fully identified and remedied in the state and until the process of clemency review can function effectively as a safety valve.

The criminal justice system in Georgia is simply too unreliable to allow another execution to go forward before serious problems are addressed. Faulty lineup procedures are still used across the state. Other causes of wrongful conviction – including unreliable forensics, false confessions and informant testimony — have not been addressed by Georgia, or by many other states.

There’s no time to wait. Georgia officials today scheduled the state’s next execution for October 5. Please take 30 seconds today to send a letter to leaders in the Georgia legislature, urging them to halt all executions until serious problems with the system can be addressed.
