Breaking News: Ronnie Taylor released in Houston

Ronnie Taylor was released from a Houston courtroom this morning, a free man for the first time in 14 years. DNA tests have now shown that Taylor was wrongfully convicted of a rape based on eyewitness misidentification and crime lab errors.

In an op-ed piece in Sunday’s Houston Chronicle, Innocence Project Co-Director Barry Scheck joined with Texas State Senators John Whitmore and Rodney Ellis (the chairman of the Innocence Project Board of Directors) to outline a plan for testing to proceed in these cases before any injustice continues to stand.
