Tune-In Live: Hearing on Solitary Confinement

Today, at 2:30 p.m. (EST), the United States Senate Committee on the Judiciary will live stream a hearing exploring solitary confinement as inhumane treatment before the Subcommittee on the Constitution, Civil Rights and Human Rights. The hearing, entitled “Reassessing Solitary Confinement II: The Human Rights, Fiscal, and Public Safety Consequences,” will be presided by Chairman Durbin and include DNA exoneree

Damon Thibodeaux

, who served 15 years on death row in Louisiana’s Angola prison for a murder that he didn’t commit. Other participants include Orange is the New Black author Piper Kerman and the directors of the Federal Bureau of Prisons and the Center for Effective Justice at the Texas Public Policy Foundation.
