Chelsey Amelkin is a Staff Attorney at the Innocence Project. Prior to joining the Innocence Project, she was a staff attorney at Appellate Advocates, where she specialized in wrongful conviction litigation and post-conviction relief. Before joining Appellate Advocates, she spent six years as a trial attorney at the Legal Aid Society in Manhattan, where she represented hundreds of indigent clients on misdemeanor and felony charges, and served as a supervising attorney for the Cardozo Criminal Defense Clinic from 2019 to 2021.
Since January 2025, Chelsey has served as a visiting lecturer at Princeton University, where she co-teaches a wrongful conviction seminar. She graduated from New York University School of Law and received her B.A. from Duke University.
