Bella Cooper joined the Innocence Project as a post-conviction litigation fellow in the fall of 2025.
Prior to joining the Innocence Project, Bella worked at the Office of the State Public Defender in California in the appellate division, representing individuals sentenced to death in California.
Bella graduated from Stanford Law School in 2024. While at Stanford, she worked as an intern at Phillips Black, ACLU Capital Punishment Project, and the California Appellate Project. She also participated in her law school’s Community Law Clinic and Three Strikes Project.
Bella is passionate about client-centered advocacy, creating fair and equitable systems for all, and restorative justice.
In her free time, Bella loves to cook, work out, and play music with her band, bottombunk.
