Pervis Payne, who has an intellectual disability and a strong innocence claim, remains on death row
Pervis Payne has maintained his innocence for more than 30 years. Yet, despite having no prior criminal record and living with an intellectual disability, Tennessee scheduled his execution for Dec. 3, 2020, but he was granted a temporary reprieve.
The reprieve has now expired and Mr. Payne’s life is at risk. The Tennessee Supreme Court could set a new execution date at any time.
