Oklahoma Senate Approves Wrongful Conviction Review
Earlier this week, the Oklahoma Senate passed a bill that would allow the State Bureau of Investigation to examine wrongful conviction claims.
House Bill 2652 would create the Oklahoma Innocence Collaboration Program allowing the agency to work with other entities, including public or private colleges, law enforcement agencies and labs to investigate cases alleging wrongful conviction, reported Tulsa World.
The bill, sponsored by Sen. Jim Halligan, passed the Senate Judiciary Committee unanimously with a vote of 9-0 and now moves to the Senate Appropriations Committee.
