New York exonerees urge lawmakers to pass wrongful conviction reforms
Three members of the Central Park Five urged New York lawmakers to pass legislation requiring recorded interrogations and new procedures on evidence-based eyewitness identification. The New York Daily News
Hearing set for Virginia man convicted of 1977 rape
A Portsmouth Circuit Court will hear the innocence claim of Roy L. Watford III next month for a 1977 rape. Watford says he only pleaded guilty to the crime in order to avoid time in prison and finish high school. The Richmond Times-Dispatch
Post-conviction DNA bill passes Utah house committee
A bill that expands access to post-conviction DNA testing was approved by a Utah House Judiciary Committee on Wednesday. Senate Bill 76 would open up access to post-conviction DNA testing provided the new evidence would show that the petitioner would not have been convicted or would have received a lesser sentence rather than requiring that the evidence would show factual innocence.
