Texas man marks one year of freedom

03.10.08

One year ago yesterday,

James Waller

was officially exonerated in Texas. He served 10 years in prison – and another 13 years as a registered sex offender – before DNA proved his innocence of a rape. Waller was wrongfully convicted partly based on the child victim’s misidentification of him.

Waller is one of 14 men exonerated by DNA testing in Dallas County, more than any other county in the nation.
