On Wednesday night at Manhattanville College in Purchase, New York, exoneree Jeffrey Deskovic will deliver the 15th Annual Henry Schwarzschild Memorial Lecture. Deskovic was wrongfully convicted of the 1989 murder and rape of his 15-year-old female classmate. His conviction was based largely on his false confession. Deskovic spent nearly 16 years behind bars. Post-conviction DNA testing proved his innocence and identified the real perpetrator. He was exonerated in November 2006.
In 2012, he founded the Jeffrey Deskovic Foundation for Justice to seek legislative reforms, to exonerate the wrongfully convicted and to assist the wrongfully imprisoned with reintegration.
The Manhattanville College event, which is co-sponsored by the Connie Hogarth Center for Social Action and the New York Civil Liberties Union, will begin at 7 PM at Reid Castle and is free and open to the public. For more information call (914) 323-7156 or email
