Michael Morton Roundup: His First Day of Freedom

After serving nearly 25 years for a murder he did not commit, Michael Morton spent his first night of freedom celebrating with family, friends and the legal team that won his release. For his first meal as a free man, he ordered okra and grilled trout.

Morton was released from a Texas prison Tuesday after his 1987 conviction was overturned because of new DNA evidence pointing to another man. Watch video footage below from yesterday’s hearing, press conference and celebration. And after the jump, view selected media coverage of Morton’s release.
