Mark Your Calendar: Sept. 15 Senate Call-in Day for Criminal Justice Reform

09.10.10

Mark your calendar – next Wednesday, September 15, we’ll be asking supporters across the United States to call their Senators and voice support for the creation of a National Criminal Justice Commission. Your voices made a huge difference in helping this bill pass the House of Representatives, and a Senate floor vote could now send the bill to President Obama for his signature.

We’ll post more information here on the morning of the 15th, so stay tuned. To get an email reminder about the call-in day on Wednesday morning, join our online community

The proposed commission, which was introduced by Virginia Senator Jim Webb, would be the first national effort in more than four decades to examine our criminal justice system. The panel could help identify why wrongful convictions happen and how they can be prevented by looking more closely at the causes of wrongful conviction and recommending improvements that would help prevent such miscarriages of justice and increase public safety.
