Make the Call for Reform

Today, September 15, is the national call-in day in support of a bill in the U.S. Senate creating a criminal justice commission. Join thousands of advocates across the country in making the call for this critical legislation today.

The U.S. House of Representatives passed a bill this summer that would create a national criminal justice commission, and the Senate Judiciary Committee has also supported this bill. Now we need the full Senate to pass this legislation, and we need your help in urging Senators in CT to prioritize this vote.

. The proposed criminal justice commission legislation was introduced last year by Virginia Senator Jim Webb and 15 co-sponsors from both political parties. The resulting bipartisan commission would review and identify effective criminal justice policies and make recommendations for reform.

This commission could do critical work to examine why wrongful convictions happen and recommend improvements that would help prevent miscarriages of justice and increase public safety.
