Ways to Give
Leaving a gift in your will or revocable living trust ensures that the Innocence Project can answer the call to justice for generations to come. You may designate a portion of your residual estate to the Innocence Project, while leaving other assets to your family and friends.
Provide your attorney with the sample bequest language below:
“I hereby give, devise and bequeath to The Innocence Project, Inc., located at 40 Worth Street, Suite 701 New York, NY 10013, [$_______ specific dollar amount or ________ percent of my residuary estate], to further the mission of the Innocence Project.”
This sample language is not meant to take the place of qualified legal counsel. Once you have completed arrangements with your lawyer or financial planner, please send a copy of the section of your will or trust that details your charitable plan so we can express our thanks and acknowledge you for your commitment. If circumstances change, you can change your planned gift at any time.
Individuals aged 70.5 or older may be eligible to use a tax-free qualified charitable distribution to the Innocence Project to meet their IRA’s annual required minimum distribution.
When you create a charitable gift annuity with the Innocence Project, you or a loved one receive guaranteed fixed quarterly payments for life based on age and a charitable income tax deduction in the year of the donation. After your passing, the remaining funds establish your legacy gift to the Innocence Project.
The Innocence Project offers gift annuities through a partnership with the National Gift Annuity Foundation.
As a registered 501(c)(3), the Innocence Project can be listed as a beneficiary of various financial accounts such as:
