This Father’s Day, honor Sedley Alley and the Quest for Truth

We’re fighting for the truth in Tennessee for my dad, Sedley Alley, and we need your help.

I watched the state of Tennessee execute my father in 2006 despite his insistence of innocence and the known existence of evidence that could be tested for DNA to determine whether he was wrongfully convicted.

I am haunted by the fact that he was killed by the state without any effort to determine the truth of who committed the crime.

Last month, we called on Shelby County District Attorney Amy Weirich and Tennessee Gov. Bill Lee to order the testing.

This is a critical test of whether the American criminal justice system can realign itself to focus just as much on truth and justice as it does on finality and punishment.
