Urge D.A. Weirich to Remove Pervis Payne From Death Row
Pervis Payne has maintained his innocence while facing execution for more than 30 years. Today, Tennessee Governor Bill Lee signed a new law that protects Pervis and others living with intellectual disabilities from being executed.
Pervis should never have been put on death row because of his intellectual disability. The State has never before disputed or contested Pervis’ intellectual disability, and District Attorney Amy Weirich should not do so now. The grave injustice in Pervis’ case has gone on too long already.
