Lauren is Innocence Project’s first in-house investigator, specializing in complex case analysis and investigations, particularly those involving limited forensic evidence or official misconduct. Her investigation into police misconduct contributed to the exoneration of Termaine Hicks in 2020. Lauren is part of a small team developing Innocence Project’s expanded intake criteria and process to ultimately serve more people. She also lectures on investigations to Innocence Project’s legal clinic students, serves on the Innocence Network’s Ethics & Best Practices Committee, and is currently developing the organization’s standards and best practices for conducting investigations. Prior to her work at Innocence Project, Lauren was an investigator at public defender offices in Brooklyn, Queens, and San Francisco.
Lauren graduated from Stanford University with degrees in philosophy and political science.
