Musician

Esperanza Emily Spalding is an American bassist, singer, songwriter, and composer. She has garnered numerous accolades, including five Grammy Awards and two honorary doctorates from Berklee College of Music and the California Institute of the Arts. On her album Radio Music Society, Ms. Spalding dedicated her song, “Land of the Free” to former Innocence Project client Cornelius Dupree, who was exonerated after spending more than 30 years in prison for a crime he did not commit. In 2018, she performed at the Innocence Network Conference’s March which was held in honor of Dr. Martin Luther King in Memphis, Tennessee.

“The good people working through and with the Innocence Project are truly at the frontlines of transforming our broken justice system. I applaud the determination and courage of their exonerees, legal team, scientists, advocates, and administrative team. I stand with the Innocence Project and am grateful for the opportunity to be an Ambassador for their work and mission.”
