Exoneree’s Wrongful Conviction Featured in ‘On the Case With Paula Zahn’ on Investigation Discovery This Sunday

05.21.10

Florida exoneree William Dillon will be featured in “On the Case With Paula Zahn” this Sunday, May 23.  The program focuses on Dillon’s wrongful conviction in the death of  James Dvorak in Canova Beach, Florida in 1981.

After an alleged confession from a jailhouse snitch, unreliable dog scent evidence, and eyewitness misidentification by a former girlfriend who had an affair with the lead investigator, Dillon was convicted of murder and sentenced to life without parole. In the program, Dillon discusses his wrongful conviction and resolve to clear his name.   He tells about the research he did in prison that enabled him to submit a handwritten motion requesting DNA testing.   Once granted, the DNA testing led to his release from prison after 27 years behind bars.

The segment will include interviews with Dillon and Innocence Project of Florida Executive Director Seth Miller.

“A Killing in Canova Beach” airs on Sunday, May 23 at 10 p.m. EST on Investigation Discovery.
