Development Associate/Writer – Institutional Giving
The Innocence Project (“IP”) founded in 1992 at the Benjamin N. Cardozo School of Law by civil rights attorneys Barry Scheck and Peter Neufeld provides pro bono post-conviction legal assistance to persons whose claims of innocence might be demonstrably proven by DNA testing. Since its inception, 218 people in the United States have been exonerated through DNA testing, including 16 who were at one time sentenced to death.
The Development Associate is an integral member of a growing team and will be responsible for the implementation of institutional giving comprised of foundations and law firms. This staff member will report directly to the Director of Development.
Roles and Responsibilities:
• Writing reports and proposals
• Management of report and submission deadlines
• Development of materials for a law firm campaign
• Developing and managing relationships with institutional donors
• Prospect research
Position Requirements:
• Bachelor’s degree
• Superior writing skills
• Minimum of three years of professional writing experience, some of which is preferably in a development setting
• Strong administrative skills
• Self-starter and entrepreneurial spirit
Salary and Benefits:
